August Lunchtime: Rebecca Sinnamon Sings: Two Portraits Of Chet Baker

Rebecca Sinnamon is a rising star on the jazz scene in Ireland. Here she is joined by her exceptionally talented band, some of Ireland’s leading musicians, as they explore the “Two Portraits of Chet Baker” highlighting a selection of his instrumental and vocal work.

Chet Baker was a primary exponent of the West Coast school of jazz. A lyrical, self-taught improviser, Baker had a generally restrained intimate playing style. His whispered vocals captured the same sleepy intimacy as his trumpet. Rebecca Sinnamon revisits the Chet Baker years with her own very special interpretation of this timeless and captivating music.

A native of Dublin, Rebecca has been singing from an early age. In fact, Rebecca was only 12 years of age when she sang solo with the Royal Irish Academy of Music Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Kevin Hanafin, in The National Concert Hall. At the age of 18, she was back singing in the National Concert Hall, this time accompanied by her dad on piano. Now at 25, we welcome Rebecca back to The National Concert Hall.

Rebecca holds a BA in Jazz Performance from Newpark School of Music and has studied under Ronan Guilfoyle, Jay Clayton, Dorothy Murphy and Norma Winstone among others.

Rebecca performs regularly in Dublin and around Ireland with various set-ups. There is no doubt that Rebecca is carving a very promising career for herself and is definitely one to watch.

Presented by The National Concert Hall
